Italy - Piemonte Wines in Israel
Nebbiolo country: fog, hills, limestone, and tannic reds with perfume and long aging lives.
Piemonte sits below the Alps in northwestern Italy, with rolling hills, foggy mornings, and a deep culture of village and vineyard identity. The Langhe, Roero, and Monferrato are especially important for fine wine.
Nebbiolo is the noble red grape behind Barolo and Barbaresco, known for pale color, rose and tar aromas, high acidity, and serious tannin. Barbera and Dolcetto offer juicier, earlier-drinking shapes, while Arneis, Cortese, and Moscato give important white and sweet styles.
Piemonte rewards patience. Young Nebbiolo can feel firm and angular, but with time it opens into cherry, dried rose, licorice, tobacco, truffle, tea, and earth. Even lighter bottles often carry a savory, autumnal signature.
