Piccini 1882 is a long-established Tuscan winemaking family and business, founded in 1882 by Angiolo Piccini, who began with just seven hectares of vineyards in Poggibonsi, in the province of Siena. Mario Piccini saw potential in the volcanic sandy soils in that part of northern Etna (Rovittello / Linguaglossa) purchased in 2016 Torre Mora winer and undertook restoration of the vineyards and infrastructure. Torre Mora tends two key northeastern contrade: Alboretto–Chiuse del Signore - 650–700 m; bush vines and stone-walled terraces and Dafara Galluzzo in Rovittello (~750 m). Their Scalunera name recalls the staircase-like terraces marching up the volcano. The estate is certified organic and pursues a clean, expressive style. Geology & style: cool nights at altitude preserve Carricante’s snap; stainless-steel élevage emphasizes briny citrus, green herbs and a smoky-mineral core. Spumante from Nerello Mascalese (long lees aging) adds chalky grip and savory strawberry-citrus lift. Torre Mora became Certified Organic in 2018.
