Tarlant
Louis Tarlant was the leader of champagne of Champagne rebellion in 1911, insisting champagne must be grown and not only made in Champagne. In 1928 he sweared to never sell his grapes to big houses and lead the grower-champagne movement. In the late 1970s, Jean-Mary Tarlant, father of current winemakers, took the rebellion further. He was first to produce Zero Dosage Champagne and was ridiculed at the time. Today, 90 percent of Tarlant's production is Brut Nature. Current generation— Benoît and Mélanie continue with least intervention approach - organic farming , wild yeasts, no filtration, and no malolactic fermentation. Tarlant champagnes age very long – both before and after the disgorgement – 1996, 2002, 2004, 2009 and before releasing to the market.

- ~50 % Chardonnay, 44 % Pinot Noir, 6 % Pinot Meunier AG 92. The NV (2018) Brut Nature Rosé Zero fleshes out beautifully in the glass, showing gorgeous mid-palate resonance and persistence. The Brut Nature style works so well here, better than in the Blanc, in my view. Cranberry, white pepper, slate and chalk are all wonderfully vivid. - By Antonio Galloni on April 2025, AG 92

Blanc de Meunier, lieu-dit Pierre de Bellevue - 2009 Meunier is on full display in the 2009 Brut Nature La Vigne d'Or. The warm year, vinification and aging in barrel, and the passage of time yield a Meunier that offers an attractive mix of varietal orchard fruit, spice and ginger notes with the lightly oxidative notes acquired over time. Soft, racy contours extend the mid-palate and finish. - By Antonio Galloni on April 2025 A complex, pleasantly oxidative style with vibrant citrus and orange aromas, butter and pastry. Medium- to full-bodied with fine mousse, this is very classic, tasty and zesty with a long, layered aftertaste. Drink or hold. - James Suckling, JS 95:

50/50 Chardonnay/Pinot Noir - single vineyard Les Crayons JS 95: This straw-colored Champagne shows hazelnuts, quince, tobacco, pastries and salted caramel. It’s deliciously saline, sleek and intense on the palate, with tangy acidity and an intense yeasty, savory character. Bone dry. 50% pinot noir and 50% chardonnay. Zero dosage. Drinking beautifully now, so why wait? - James Suckling AG 94: The 1996 Brut Nature Cuvée Louis Tarlant is a blend of 50% Pinot Noir and 50% Chardonnay done in barrel. Exotic and light on its feet, the 1996 is quite delicate. There's a touch of evolution, but that's about what I would expect for a wine of this age that was vinified and aged in French oak. This is a fabulous showing. - By Antonio Galloni on April 2025
