Germany - Mosel Wines in Israel

Steep slate slopes and the Mosel river give Riesling a rare mix of delicacy, acidity, and aromatic lift.

The Mosel is one of the most dramatic white-wine landscapes in Europe. Vineyards rise sharply above the river and its tributaries, so growers work small terraces, old vines, and slate soils that gather heat during the day and release it through cool nights.

Riesling is the region's central voice. It can be feather-light and dry, gently off-dry, or intensely sweet, but the common thread is acidity: a bright line that keeps fruit, sugar, and mineral detail in balance. Blue, red, and grey slate can each push the wines toward different shades of smoke, spice, and stone.

Mosel wines often feel transparent rather than heavy. Expect lime, green apple, peach, white flowers, herbs, and wet stone, with sweetness levels that can be less obvious than the numbers suggest because the acidity is so vivid.
