Description

António Madeira Branco reflects the mountain vineyards of Dão at the foot of the Serra da Estrela. It is a field blend of more than twenty indigenous white varieties, led by Bical, Malvasia Fina, Encruzado and Cerceal, sourced from vines ranging from approximately 20 to 70 years old on granite soils. Hand-harvested grapes ferment with indigenous yeasts and undergo malolactic fermentation. The wine ages for twelve months—30% in French oak and 70% in stainless steel—followed by three additional months in steel before being bottled without fining or filtration. Pure orchard fruit and flowers meet wet granite and a subtle saline note. The palate is broad and elegant, with fresh acidity and a long, intense finish. Pair with baked fish, cod, white meats or Serra da Estrela cheese.

Antonio Madeira - Ainda Palhete - #2031-2023

Antonio Madeira Ainda Palhete 2022 750ml

2022 - Portugal - Portugal - Orange - 750ml - 150 ILS

Ainda is António Madeira’s interpretation of palhete, a traditional Portuguese style made by fermenting red and white grapes together. The fruit comes from old, mixed vineyards on granite soils in the Serra da Estrela foothills of Dão. Around forty indigenous varieties contribute to the blend, with approximately 20% white grapes bringing freshness and making the wine approachable in its youth. The grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeasts, followed by ageing in stainless steel. The wine is bottled without fining or filtration. Juicy cherry and wild-berry fruit is joined by floral notes, lively acidity and fine, gentle tannins. Fresh and highly drinkable, yet unmistakably rooted in Dão’s old-vine heritage. Excellent with cod, duck, charcuterie or roast poultry.

Antonio Madeira - A Liberdade - #2033-2023

Antonio Madeira A Liberdade 2022 750ml

2022 - Portugal - Portugal - White - 750ml - 195 ILS

A Liberdade is a low-intervention Dão white from granite vineyards in the Serra da Estrela foothills. Approximately 70% comes from a 25-year-old vineyard planted with Cerceal, Encruzado and Bical; the remaining 30% is drawn from roughly 80-year-old mixed vineyards containing Síria, Fernão Pires, Arinto and other traditional varieties. Fermentation takes place with indigenous yeasts, and the wine matures in stainless steel and used barrels before bottling without fining or filtration. White flowers, green apple, peach and citrus are framed by a distinct mineral character. The palate combines a gently creamy texture with bright acidity, freshness and a persistent finish. Serve with shellfish, white fish, soft cheeses or poultry.

Antonio Madeira - Vinhas Velhas Branco - #2034-2023

Antonio Madeira Vinhas Velhas Branco 2022 750ml

2022 - Portugal - Portugal - White - 750ml - 220 ILS

Vinhas Velhas Branco comes from vineyards between approximately 50 and 130 years old in the Serra da Estrela subregion of Dão. Its old-vine field blend includes around twenty indigenous varieties, notably Síria, Fernão Pires, Bical, Encruzado, Arinto and Cerceal, grown biodynamically on granite soils. After gentle pressing, the must ferments naturally with indigenous yeasts. The wine matures for almost two years: its first year is divided between 500-litre French and Austrian oak barrels and stainless steel, followed by further ageing in steel. Pear, peach, citrus and grapefruit mingle with floral notes, fennel, ginger, flint and wet granite. Fresh, tense and crystalline yet full-bodied, it finishes long, saline and complex. Pair with seafood, grilled fish or white meats.
